Dr. Suzanne Mitchell

CEO & FOUNDER

Suzanne is an MD, entrepreneur and innovator in health tech. For over a decade, Suzanne designed and researched the use of immersive telehealth to increase patient engagement in chronic disease management. She completed her research at Boston University, funded by more than $5M of NIH awards. In 2018, Suzanne founded See Yourself Health, LLC, an early-stage start-up established to bring immersive telehealth to the more than 36 million people living with diabetes. Suzanne’s vision is to restore good health and hope for people struggling with chronic disease by helping them become high-performing drivers of care. She is an expert in the field of patient engagement and is an award-winning innovator in this space. Under Suzanne’s leadership, SYH has raised over $2.6M in non-dilutive funding and secured working partnerships with regional and national health plans and health systems. Her visionary leadership has been recognized by the Massachusetts Life Science Center for outstanding women entrepreneurs. She has authored over 75 peer-reviewed publications, book chapters and conference abstracts. Dr. Mitchell is board certified in family and palliative medicine and also holds an academic appointment as Associate Professor at UMass Medical School. She is a mentor for the MIT Entrepreneur’s bootcamp and has mentored numerous aspiring health professionals and entrepreneurs. She is also a champion and advocate for efforts to reduce health inequities including her own work in health services research. Suzanne graduated from Bentley College School of Business and then attended Wake Forest University School of Medicine. She also holds a Master’s in Clinical Research degree from UCLA. Suzanne enjoys living with her family on the North Shore of Massachusetts.

Blair Heavey

GO-TO MARKET CONSULTANT

Mr. Heavey is a serial entrepreneur and C-suite level advisor to early-stage companies. Blair has worked with 25+ companies across multiple industries as either a leader or advisor. At these companies his responsibilities included building aligned and focused teams, creating and growing products, revenue streams and overall business to hit company goals, and creating successful business models. His results include multiple IPO’s, acquisitions, and growth investment rounds at increasing valuations. Mr. Heavey is helping build a high performing business infrastructure and new business development operations for SYH that is informing both commercialization and product development efforts.

Chief Technology Advisor
Mr. Cortes is an accomplished software engineer with notable experience working with start-up technology teams and using cloud streaming software. He has worked as a software manager for both Amazon and Facebook. He has supported SYH for the past 4 years as a software engineering consultant. He has led development efforts and assisted Dr. Mitchell with usability and feasibility testing to create the next iterations of the HOPE App.

Chief Medical Advisor
Dr. Harris is a former Associate in the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism at Geisinger Health System with 40+ years of clinical experience and a tireless passion for endocrinology and in particular, diabetes. He previously served as the Clinical Program Director, Diabetes, Geisinger Health Plan where he was responsible for setting the quality agenda for diabetes. He played a pivotal role in the success of SYH’s development of the original website, on which the HOPE App is based. He has referred 150+ patients to SYH and helped secure a $400,000 investment from Geisinger to SYH.

Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Hutchins is an experienced chief financial officer for start-up firms in Greater Boston. He has 20+ years’ experience managing and building early-stage growth companies by implementing strong financial analysis functionality, creating an organizational structure that is poised for growth, and executing the strategic business goals for financial success. He has helped build five successful startup companies, two of which were acquired with valuations over 5x trailing revenue. As a financial advisor for SYH, he will provide financial oversight and budget management.

Data Scientist
Max is an accomplished data scientist with expertise in research methods, statistics, machine learning, and data visualization. With over a decade of experience in conducting research across diverse domains, he brings an important perspective to his role as a data scientist at SYH. Max received his Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Oregon, where he focused on understanding how we encode and later retrieve memories. He is eager to utilize the data SYH collects to help improve the experience and health of users.

Consulting Clinician
Roberta is a Nurse Practitioner with a combination of clinical care, provider training, patient outreach and project management experience in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings. She has a proven track record of successfully cultivating relationships between patients and providers with improved clinical outcomes. She participated as a facilitator in the NIH-funded "Women in Control" program alongside Dr. Mitchell in 2008. Her commitment to public health and underserved populations, as well as her effective communication skills, have benefited See Yourself Health’s community immensely since it’s start.

Patient & Community Engagement Specialist
Briana is an experienced social worker specializing in working with older adults with a passion for improving mental health and well-being. She holds a dual master's degree in Marriage & Family Therapy, and Social Work from the University of Louisville Kent school of Social Work & Family Science. Briana brings strong communication and recruitment skills as she is fluent in Spanish and excels in building meaningful connections with diverse individuals, fostering an inclusive environment for effective collaboration and team dynamics.

Biostatistician
Matt is a biostatistician and data consultant for See Yourself Health. He holds a Ph.D. in Government from Harvard University, and his interests include racial disparities in and social determinants of health. His experience working on clinical trials focused on hospital readmissions amongst patients with depressive symptoms, preconception care for black and African American women, and group-based diabetes care will be a highly beneficial contribution to our team. In addition to his work with SYH, Matt also publishes in political science, sociology, and history, and teaches research design in the department of Social Studies at Harvard University.
